Daniel Sharp is the Managing Director of DSCS, a community strategy consultancy that builds sustainable relationships and financial systems for artists, institutions, and creative technology companies. With a background in crowdfunding, public art, and publications, they’ve helped 25 clients craft their stories, grow their platforms, secure funding, and claim agency. Sharp is a NEW INC Mentor and the host of Practices After Capitalism with Anticapitalism for Artists. Sharp’s previous work as the Arts Outreach Lead at Kickstarter collectively raised $4,500,000+ for over 500 projects by artists, museums, and activists.
In the evenings, Sharp is an artist, musician, deejay, and writer. They founded Moods, a mixtape series that explores the roots and origins of the techno community with an emphasis on Detroit. During their fellowship, Sharp will scale the Post-Center Art Center, a free online resource to identify and connect art spaces across the country that exist outside the traditional centers of New York and Los Angeles.
They have spoken widely about their work, including with the Kresge Foundation, Creative Capital, and the Institute for Nonprofit News. Their writing has been published in NYFA and the Agora Journal of Urban Planning and Design, among others.
