Curtis Ruffin was born and raised in Detroit, MI and is a first-generation college graduate of Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business. His academic background led him into a career in tech at a company called BI Worldwide. He is positioned as Director of Business Development, providing measurable results for Fortune 500 companies who are committed to making the world a better place.
He is fond of a saying by Maya Angelou, “As human beings, we are often more alike than we are unalike.” This quote can best describe his civic passion, which leads him to volunteer within various organizations using art, music, sports/entertainment and community service to set aside foundational differences and build lifelong connections for a common goal.
He also sits on the board of the 100 Black Men of Greater Detroit, which is the Detroit chapter of an international organization committed to improving quality of life within inner cities. As a board member, he co-leads their mentoring program which oversees 30 kids and has created an entirely new curriculum focused on critical thinking, life-skills, and career guidance to prepare children for life after high school.
He looks forward to leading community projects that inspire residents to find enjoyment in health and wellness, building a greater sense of cohesion in Detroit.
