Lauretta Ekanem Omale

Lauretta Ekanem Omale holds a PhD in Community Psychology and a master’s in public health, with a focus on Substance Use Prevention and Recovery Support Services. Her specialized educational background has been instrumental in her work as the coordinator of the Recovery Support Services program at the Community Outreach Intervention Projects (COIP), School of Public Health, UIC which provides peer-based support to people who use drugs as they navigate the recovery process. 

Lauretta’s public health background will be leveraged for effective collaboration with community partners and funders to ensure seamless coordination and referrals to the Opioid Response Team initiative and sobering tents, in collaboration with Chicago Department of Public Health and community stakeholders.
