Jaya Miller is an accomplished education and nonprofit leader with nearly two decades of experience improving student outcomes and strengthening systems that support Chicago’s youth. She currently serves as Chief of Staff at City Year Chicago, where she leads strategic planning, executive advising, board engagement, organizational operations, and cross-departmental alignment for one of the largest City Year sites in the country. Under her leadership, the site has expanded AmeriCorps enrollment, increased partner school engagement, and strengthened operational efficiency and financial stewardship.
Before joining City Year, Jaya spent more than a decade in Chicago Public Schools as a teacher, school leader, and administrator, where she championed equity-focused practices and supported students in some of Chicago’s most under-resourced communities. Her experience in both school-based and nonprofit leadership gives her a unique systems perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing students and educators.
Jaya holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and is a graduate of several civic and leadership development programs. She is passionate about developing emerging leaders, expanding access for students furthest from opportunity, and building cross-sector partnerships that drive sustainable change across Chicago.
