Christina McField is a community advocate, contemporary artist, and cultural producer dedicated to empowering creatives through art and education. As the founder of The WoodGrain Studio, LLC, she creates spaces that nurture artistic growth and collaboration within the creative community. A recipient of the 2024-2025 Mississippi Art Commission Artist Fellowship and the 2021-2022 Community Impact Artist-in-Residence at Sipp Culture, McField’s impact on both art and community is widely recognized. Her museum experience spans several roles at the Mississippi Museum of Art, where she helped deepen the institution’s connection to its community.
A graduate of Mississippi State University with a BFA in sculpture and a master’s from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, McField’s work explores themes of memory, history, and the often-forgotten narratives of the rural South. Through photography and sculpture, she bridges the past and present, reflecting on nature, spirit, and childhood memories. McField believes in the transformative power of art to unite communities.
During her time with Change Collective, she plans to establish a mentorship program for visual artists furthering her commitment to cultural preservation and creative growth.
