Marvin V. Jones

Marvin Jones is a native of Belzoni, Mississippi and a 1994 graduate of Jackson State University. He was a volunteer tutor and mentor at Operation Shoestring in Jackson, Mississippi. He then returned home and began teaching adult women at the University of Mississippi. He served as a School Attendance Officer for the Mississippi Department of Education for 17 years and as the Transportation Director for the Humphreys County School System for 10 years. In 2021, he was elected as Ward 3 Alderman for the city of Belzoni, and currently serves as the Humphreys County Circuit Clerk.

Marvin is married to Mississippi House Representative Timaka James-Jones. They are very active members of White Star Church. They have two adult daughters, Sylvia Jones, an educator, and Gabriel Jones-Harrington, an Army Veteran, and a grandbaby, Melonie Rose Harrington.

Jones is an active member of several organizations and boards. He is most proud of his role as the Past-President of the Beta Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He has helped to serve area communities by providing funding for scholarships, relief efforts, housing, food, clothing, tutorials, and community forums. His desire is to help bring an emergency health care unit to Humphreys County and/or the Mississippi Delta.
