A dynamic scholar, transformative leader, entrepreneur, and forward-thinking visionary, Dr. Kia Monique Jones is committed to the economic growth and revitalization of Mississippi. Dr. Jones is the Founder & CEO of For Brown Girls, Inc., a nonprofit organization founded in 2015 whose mission is to uplift, motivate, and cultivate the minds of women of color, empowering them to fulfill their dreams, promote positive change, and strengthen marginalized communities. Her expertise affords her the ability to strategically assist in advocating for those who are disadvantaged. Dr. Jones has organized events for people in the community to engage in recreational, educational, and community engagement activities that align with For Brown Girls, Inc.’s programs and initiatives. While addressing effective ways that foster hopefulness for the future for social justice and public health equity, Dr. Jones has instilled a vision of what can be and drawn others forward in a positive way in Jackson, Mississippi, as a community organizer. Her goal is to develop multidisciplinary and collaborative strategies for solving public health inequities and increase emphasis on disease prevention and wellness promotion. She has embraced these ideas to create environments in which people are given the tools and resources to challenge the status quo, push boundaries and make a difference in the community of Jackson, MS, where she resides.
