Brian Harvey

Brian is a passionate first responder and community advocate born and raised in Detroit, MI who works to support youth, combat substance abuse, and promote mental health awareness and resources within Detroit communities. Working as an EMT and Fire Officer, Brian’s witnessed the effects of unaddressed trauma and addiction firsthand, and with his own lived experience, operates as a peer support mentor to meet individuals where they are.

Through the Better Detroit Youth Movement, a nonprofit, he works with youth to instill confidence, discipline, financial literacy, and practical tools to create generational wealth. He advocates for a holistic view of health, teaching that healing comes through mental wellness, nutrition, physical movement, and a supportive community.

His values are centered in Christ and explained with “Being faithful over little to be trusted with much.” Which influences his work and reminds him to be consistent, disciplined, and maintain good character, which counts for more than just your title.

Through the Change Collective, Brian is looking forward to building impactful resources, innovative initiatives, and more youth-centered programs to Detroit’s neighborhoods. His aim is straightforward: supporting adults and young people in achieving health, establishing strong foundations, and bridging leaders to uplift Detroit communities together.
