Tai Duncan Atteberry is the principal of Next Play Strategies, a Chicago-based business strategy consultancy focused on social impact and external affairs. In this role, Tai partners with government, business, and nonprofit leaders to align organizational goals with key stakeholder interests to drive meaningful, impact-driven outcomes.
A frequent conference speaker, podcast guest, and guest lecturer at law and business schools, Tai regularly speaks on social responsibility, cannabis law & policy, nonprofit leadership, and social justice. Her career spans leadership roles across the cannabis, sports, nonprofit, and financial services sectors, following her early work as a labor and employment attorney. A lifelong athlete and coach, Tai was a collegiate basketball and volleyball player and later coached high school girls’ basketball for ten years after law school.
Tai earned her JD with Honors from the University of Iowa College of Law and a BA in Sociology from Grinnell College. Born and raised in Chicago, where she now lives, she is excited to be a Change Collective Fellow and to build community-driven economic development pathways through entrepreneurship — collaborating with diverse change makers to turn inclusive, empowering ideas into practical strategies that expand opportunity and lasting impact.
