Shaquita Chapman

Shaquita is a community builder, organizer, and creative whose work centers on cultivating safe, inclusive spaces where people feel seen and supported. Originally from Alabama, she recently made Jackson her home and has been steadily building connections through projects like JXN Run Club, her work with the Black Public Defender Association, and her involvement with the National Folk Festival during its multi-year residency in the city. Her background spans social work, event design, community engagement, and wellness-focused initiatives. She brings these experiences together to create intentional spaces that encourage connection, healing, and a sense of belonging.

As she continues establishing herself in Jackson, Shaquita is focused on deepening her ability to build authentic, long-lasting relationships and strengthening her understanding of the community’s people, culture, and needs. Through the Change Collective experience, she aims to expand her leadership capacity, grow her community network, and develop the skills needed to support sustainable, people-centered spaces that reflect the heart and rhythm of Jackson.
