Darius Caffey is a multidisciplinary consultant and the founder of Contributing Creator, where he empowers entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and businesses to scale their impact through innovative design, development, and strategy solutions.
In 2020, Darius identified a gap in LGBTQ+ advocacy for Black individuals in the Midwest, which inspired him to launch The Closet Unlocked — a platform addressing social determinants of health through digital media storytelling. As lead producer and key organizer, Darius developed tools to amplify community voices, collaborating with over 20 organizations to highlight the experiences of Black LGBTQ+ people. Initially focused on written content, The Closet Unlocked evolved into a video-first initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic, adapting to meet the demands of a shifting digital landscape. Under Darius’s leadership, the platform expanded its reach by innovating community engagement strategies, pivoting program designs, and producing educational multimedia content that connects audiences to critical resources.
In 2025, Darius plans to build on the success of his quarterly panel and networking mixers by enhancing accessibility and fostering deeper community connections through workshops that bridge digital and in-person experiences. His dedication to creating inclusive spaces and driving social change continues to shape his work and the communities he serves.
