Taylor Turnage is a passionate advocate for social change and community progress from Byram, MS. A proud alumna of Tougaloo College, she earned her B.S. in biology and has dedicated over a decade to leadership roles within organizations such as the NAACP and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Notably, as past Youth & College State President for the NAACP, Taylor led the largest protest in Mississippi since Freedom Summer of 1964, resulting in the removal of Confederate symbols from the state flag — an accomplishment she holds as her greatest achievement.
Taylor is deeply committed to advancing Mississippi’s future by empowering and mentoring the next generation of leaders. Her work continues to inspire and drive change in her community. A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta, Taylor’s leadership journey began with her initiation into the Gamma Psi Chapter at Tougaloo. Guided by the belief that “The time is always right to do what is right,” Taylor strives to live out this quote through her continued advocacy, determination, and service to others.
