As a lifelong resident of the South Side of Chicago, the effects of poverty, marginalization, as well as systematic oppression are no stranger to Jameycia Jenkins. The advocate in her initially began to emerge when she graduated eighth grade alongside peers who did not know how to read ahead of high school. That fire grew further when she began work as an early childhood education practitioner and witnessed children receive vastly different educational experiences based solely upon their zip code. A recent graduate of Erikson Institute, she acquired a MS in ECE with a concentration in leadership and advocacy. Jameycia also works alongside a few organizations that cater towards equity and inclusion work. She considers herself to be an agent of change currently working as an Education/Disabilities/Mental Health Coordinator for a CBO, she is on a mission to learn, grow, and work towards creating a better world for all.
